The Water Man stands tall in an undefinable realm between physical phenomenon and ineffable enigma.
Is it a singular or multiple entities?
What is it? Who is it?
Where did it come from?
Is it biological or something beyond?
What are its intents?
I believe these questions cannot be answered. Yet I am driven to compile its mysteries, to collect the stories of those who have seen, touched, been touched by, or spoken to it. Any one person cannot hope to fathom its glory. But together, these stories may unveil new mysteries, new ways of understanding not just the Water Man, but the world and our place in it.
Upon graduation from the Slime Integration Program in Boston, Massachusetts, I returned to the place of my emergence with no plan or life goal. I was hoping for tranquility. Simplicity. While exploring a local library, I happened upon a mural, a scene of a striking humanoid figure of water standing before a crowd of humans. Some were frozen in fear, others wept. A librarian explained it was painted by her grandson from his memory of the Water Man's revelation.
This was eight years since the global revelation. Two years after my own emergence. I had never once heard of the Water Man. It is not discussed in any slime integration curricula and is a taboo topic in slime-human conversation.
This began my research journey.

This archive is a collection of independent research on the Water Man phenomenon and human accounts of interactions with the Water Man, primarily from an American and English-speaking perspective.
The focus is on human accounts, as I have been unable to find accounts of slime interactions with the Water Man.
The Author
I am Ember, an amber slime. I emerged in Wood's Hole, Massachusetts in 2018, and graduated from the slime integration program in Boston in 2020.
I am driven by an unknown force. It is an innate desire to explore the Water Man phenomenon.
My goal is not to fully explain the Water Man or to connect it to slime emergence. My goal is not to dispute or confirm these stories.
My goal is to compile its stories in one place for the reference of other researchers.
The stories within in are solely those of the involved individuals in their own words.
Language Clarification
The terms "Water Man Phenomenon," abbreviated as WMP or "the phenomenon", are herein used as an umbrella term encompasing the appearances and actions of entities and unseen forces in and around water as perceived by humans and recording equipment.
The terms "Water Man" "the Water Man" refer to a hypothetical sentience or consciousness responsible for the overall Water Man Phenomenon.
I present this as hypothetical because those extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence - evidence which has not yet been found. This is not to discount the intelligence demonstrated in the Water Man Phenomenon.
I encourage readers to not blindly follow the FBSA DOAA's guidance, official or leaked, on the phenomenon and its supposed intents - the organization is blinded by hubris and the need to classify minutia on the (completely counterproductive) grounds of "understanding."
Instead, please read these stories and conduct your own research.
